Climate crisis, conflict and hatred, poverty and inequality, the dominance of capital and material goods, unbridled competition...
In the face of huge crises, it is easy to become pessimistic or resigned. Nevertheless, villages and village activists are experimenting and transforming through regenerative means such as commons, civic assets, sustainable development, and the values of reciprocity, solidarity, cooperation and self-reliance.
The 2023 Gyeonggi Maeul Global Networking Day will be held for two days under the theme of “Today's Maeul meets Tomorrow's Life.” In the theme session, we would like to introduce a better life for tomorrow, under the concept of ‘doughnut economy’. In the concurrent sessions, we will reread the stories that villages are currently writing, gather wisdom among various alternatives, and focus on ways to take action together.

In order to expand the stage of Gyeonggi-do village activists to the world, we ran the '2023 Gyeonggi-do Village Activist International Exchange' project, and five communities travelled to countries in Europe and Asia. See the stories of tomorrow told by village activists who embrace the world at the '2023 Gyeonggi Maeul Global Networking Day'.
